Girls Volleyball!

At James Cook University, the sports teams compete between dorms, as other universities are too far away. Last night, the Uni Hall girls played in the championship game for volleyball. They ended up winning by 15 points or something. Siena is on the team and played so great! Congrats Uni girls!

Siena's 21st Birthday!

On September 19th, Siena turned 21!!!
We all decided to go out to lunch at Pizza Hut because it was all you can eat pizza, pasta, and salad for $10! We were all so excited and couldn't wait to devour so much food, but when we showed up, it was closed until further notice. So we ended up going across the street to Hog's Breath. They still had lunch specials, which were really delicious. I ended up getting a chicken burger with ranch sauce and curly fries! It was so good!

After lunch, it was time to celebrate Siena's birthday! We all were pregaming in Mully's room, since it is the biggest. We were having a great time. Then we rented out the JCR, so we all went down there and played some music and just hung out. A bunch of other friends came down, and it was a blast. Finally it was time to go to Uni Club and celebrate there. Overall, it was such a fun night. We had a great time!

Words cannot describe how lucky I am to have came to Australia with Siena, Becca, Sara and Andrew, and how lucky I am to have met Jess, Matt, Tory and Emily. These people right are here truly amazing people, and I am so lucky to have met them and to spend this much time with them!

Happy birthday Siena!

Leighton!

A few days later, we decided to go to the river and just relax. It was me, Siena, Leighton, Mully and John. A lady was paddle boarding and asked if we wanted to try, so of course I said yes. This was such a fun opportunity, I am so glad that she offered to let us use her board!

Magnetic Island

So where do I even begin? This weekend was beautiful, such an amazing Island. It all started by taking the bus into town, and then a ferry into Magnetic Island. As this was our first trip, we were all super excited and could not wait. We set this trip up through Peter Pans which is a little travel agent for our school that gives us deals.

We stayed in a hostile called X Base Backpackers Resort, and it was awesome! There were bungalows, a pool, a pub, and did I mention that it was right on the beach? Wow, that sunset was amazing.

Bungalows all lined up

The Bungalows were right on the beach.

When we first got here, we went to our room to unpack a bit, then decided to head to the beach. It was such a nice day, as most days in Australia are. Becca, Natalia, and I were looking for shells, and ended up climbing up a bunch of rocks. We got up so high, that we didn't know how to get down, because it was a bit risky and unsafe on the way up. Finally, we saw a few other guys up near us. We ended up asking them to help us get down, as we didn't know how to. We found out that they are from Ireland, and have been living in Australia for over a year.

Every month, Magnetic Island has a Full Moon Party, so we decided to go this month. The theme was foam party, so it was interesting. The party was hosted at our hostile too which was great. We ended up meeting so many new friends, and even met some people who live in Australia now, but used to live in the States!

Saturday, we all woke up and decided to go to Horseshoe Bay, which was just another beach. Natalia, Faith and Andrew were walking around a bit, as me, Sara, Becca and Siena were relaxing on the beach. Siena and I went for a long walk on the beach and we were collecting shells. We found so many different shells. We also found a few hermit crabs which were cute. This was where we experienced the most gorgeous sunset ever. It was just amazing. Pictures do not even begin to explain how amazing it was.

On Sunday, Natalie took me, Siena, Becca and Sara on a short walk to a place called Rock Wallabies. There were so many wallabies, who were so friendly and would just come right up to us. Natalie had an apple, and cut it into many pieces so each of us could feed the wallabies. We fed them "Lady and the Tramp" style!

After feeding the wallabies, we then spent the rest of the day relaxing at the beach, before it was time to head back to campus.

Overall, it was an amazing first weekend away. I am so looking forward to spending more weekends away from campus with my friends!
