October 28th
Wow, I cannot believe the time is here that we are saying goodbye to the people we met a few months ago. The first day we arrived at JCU, Martha, who is our Resident Coordinator, greeted us, and now we had to say goodbye to her. Martha is actually American, and studied abroad a few years ago (i think 5). She ended up loving it so much, that she came back and is now living here!
Globalinks treated us to a dinner at the Riverview Tavern. We were offered chicken parm, steak, or pasta for our meals. I of course chose the chicken parm, which was fantastic. After we all finished eating, Martha had a few games/activities for us, and some included rewards! The first thing she did was went through a list of Australian words, and we had to figure out if we knew them or not. She was impressed that we knew mostly all of the words. We then shared our most Aussie experience, and our favourite moment of traveling abroad. It was so great to hear everyone's stories. Although I am pretty close with most of the people in the group, there are a few that I didn't see much throughout the semester, so hearing their experiences were awesome!
After dinner, most of the people were planning to go out into town, but Becca and I were not because we had a final the following day. Our friends were talking all night about inviting Martha to dinner too, so I said that I would go if she went. Well of course she went. She said she would drive Becca and I home whenever we were ready though, so we could still get a good night of sleep before the final. So the most of the gang went out into town, and I am really glad I went. It was a great time.
